Monroe

Just back from a Cuba night at Little Monroe with really excellent food and music. The owner's 94-year old artist mother holds court in a high-backed armchair, her work hung on the walls. A great hangout offering a space for progressive events coupled with diversity in the old Mission tradition.

I love this place. The food is fantastic as are the drinks. If you are adventurous, this is the place for you. After you've eaten your fill and had several hibiscus or ginger drinks, take your half drunk self around the corner to Little Bissap. You can either become completely drunk or sweat out your drunkeness by dancing up a storm to African music.

Great music and really fun! A lot of throwback songs. There are 2 bars and an outdoor seating area. The outdoor area is a nice touch and a good place to get some air since it gets very hot inside. They also try to cool down the place with a couple of fans.

Really cool and unique concept! Drink prices are on par with DTLA. Love the furry pink room, the DJ and the bartender was super cute and friendly!
