I love love love this little shop. I've had two diplomas framed here. The owner suggested adding accenting French lines to the matte. I let him follow his vision and the results are gorgeous.nnI've since been back to browse and they really have an impressive collection of antique prints and reproductions. I simply had to get a framed map of Boston in 1775.nnDo stop by to have a gander and a chat while you're in Davis.

I really, really tried to be patient with Carmen, the owner of this frame shop, but was left profoundly disappointed.nnI left a rare handmade Burmese bamboo print with him after discussing extensively what I wanted and what he could do. He told me it would take him about 1 or 2 weeks to do it, which was fine since I was going to be traveling for 7 weeks. At the end of my travels, I called Carmen and he told me the print still wasn't done, but he'd have it done in a week. Knowing how he was with time, I gave him two more weeks, then stopped by the shop. The print was not only unfinished, but it was lying crumpled in a corner of the shop. Absolutely no care had been given to it.nnNow, the piece was difficult to frame and I would have completely understood if he had been honest and said he wasn't up for the job. That was not the case. Instead, not only did he let this whole process drag on for 9 weeks, but the piece was damaged at the end of it. No care or respect was shown for it, which should say a lot about he (and his partner, his father), treat customer's artwork.nnCarmen is a very nice person, but I can't help but feel deeply disrespected in the way I was treated as a customer. I would not advise anyone to check this place out.
