New York City Civil Court

How does a place like this stay funded? They don’t even help the tax payers funding them!! This place certainly needs reform and an entirely new staff!!!

Was called to court for a case. Court knew I was out of state. Traveled to NY to appear. I was on time but the other side, which had several other cases on the docket was late. Once they arrived court deposed other cases they had on the docket but where the other side failed to show. The case I was called for had not been called, and the opposing party alerted the clerk. In front of the judge, Northern said they were not prepared and did not know about the case. The opposing party (defendant) showed them proof of notification in their own case. Court penalized defendant by adjorning the case ...and I therefore would have to come back. Never witnessed such a thing.

Incredibly difficult to reach by phone. Rude. They try especially hard to do as little as possible for you. So happy to pay high taxes to this aweful city government

Aside from not answering the phone, they will take your money but you will not get a court date. When there in person the folks are nice enough but they provide instructions that are not clear.

The court officers were direct and unbiased in their service. Questions were answered and everyone was treated fairly and equally. This is not a place for anyone seeking special treatment or sympathy.
