Skate Park

This park has enough to get creative and have fun, but it asks a lot of any skater, especially younger ones. The concrete ramps thankfully don’t get too hot, which is good since there’s not much shade here. Best to come earlier or later in the day if it’s hot. The mini QP is a blast. The ledge and double bench are fun, while many of the ramps have poorly-crafted cracks between them. The smaller and larger banks are great for getting speed. The hubba is fun but falling apart—BMXers have knocked it loose, it’s too light for a bike. The across/down rail is fun for experienced rail skaters or practicing tricks but can be a tough one because it’s so small, actually, and the deck of the pyramid is so short. The entire park is on a noticeable downhill, which is its second worst feature, the first being the gritty pavement which, if fallen on, will grind away at your skin (wear pads here, beginners) and give you some sand to take with you. I’ve seen this happen too many times. The park is due for a total makeover if for no other reason to get it level and flat and smooth as to prevent serious injury.
