Wonderful, out-of-the-way NPS site. The visitor center is partially open and the NPS stamps are available. They have a great exhibit on the animals and type of fossils (early mammals) on display. We took a short walk to the river and enjoyed some pretty views. We happened to visit on an incredibly windy day, so we were unable to explore too far.

I thought the area was beautiful. Open, vast, feels like you can see forever! The trails are short and well paved. The museum was nice but some stuff is closed down because of Covid.nIf you stop and just stand still, this land is powerful. Amazing energy!

This place is amazing. Worth the short drive!

I only passed through in the dark night hours to find a good spot for star photography so I didn't have a chance to tour the entire site. I can offer information on the access and layout of the entrance though. It was easy to find from the main highway to the west and the road is paved all the way in. I stopped at an overlook before the main facility to face south for my star pictures and found a rock formation on the way in to the north that made a great background image. I'll look forward to a return visit during normal hours

This stop was a bit disappointing to be honest. The visitor center was closed due to COVID-19 but the main walking path they have is really more of a nature walk (you won't actually see any fossils). The better option is to check out the shorter path out by the main road to the west of the visitor center which does actually have some neat geography and a few fossils you can see.
