The RD at U of M has fifty years of success to celebrate this year. The RC aims to create a small educational enclave within an enormous elite university of over forty thousand students. If one wishes to attain proficiency in a foreign language, the RC has programs that are immersive. The dining hall itself becomes a classroom where the second language can be practiced over meals. Annually, students produce a lovely talent show in Lydia Mendelssohn Theater to celebrate that cohort of graduates. And then all march with a bagpiper to the hall for a banquet. A good place for young people who want an English style education in reading and thinking.
What?! No reviews yet? The Residential College really does remain the best kept secret of the University of Michigan undergraduate experience. The 50th anniversary of its founding was a great event, reminding us all of what a great place it is. As an alumnae I am so proud of the RC. My heart is still there!
