I've actually been spoken to rudely, and impatiently by the managing presence once as well as the counter helpers a couple of times, but - this store is a different situation than most businesses. With Borders and Barnes & Noble, then Amazon suffocating 98% of bookstores and other stores in the world, it still feels good finding what I'm looking for at Nicolas so I can feel like I've done a minor part of keeping them alive. I moved here from the east coast 30+ years ago and I have been getting hobby magazines and fiction at this store throughout what feels like my entire memory of living in A2, whether they're happy or not, Nicolas is a symbol and landmark, not just a store.
Wonderful place! I go there all of the time and a shout out to a man who has a interest in maps and would talk about the philosophy of choosing a bag ud83dude02 He deserves a raise!!!! I’m not kidding please give him a raise he is great and I think his name is Paul and he has glasses ud83dudc53!
Nicola's is such a gem of a bookstore that's in Ann Arbor. So happy that they are still here and that people love books and bookstores. Wide selection of genres and magazines plus other goodies to make great gifts or for yourself. I'll have to take some pics next time.nnWell managed and safety protocols and people giving reminders throughout the store. Staff is always willing to help and friendly. Great book selection, as always. Great puzzles for all levels (I bought a 2000 piece! ). One way flow through store, met at door where staff explained the traffic flow, offered hand sanitizer, checked that everyone was wearing masks. They even have it set up to exit out the side door! Well done!
This bookstore is great. They are locally owned and highlight products from and about Michigan. This is a GREAT place to get cute gifts. They have fun, unique jigsaw puzzles (including ones for adults). I am thrilled to have found this place and can not recommend it highly enough. Support local businesses!
