We just loved our experience with Acadia 1! I can’t imagine kayaking with a tour group when you can just rent from Acadia 1. It costs less than the tour groups, and you get all day to go wherever you want without any hassle. We were expecting a lot less than we got the day we went out. Sean is such a great guy with endless knowledge of the area and must see sights. I will be going back as soon as I get the chance. Thanks for everything Acadia 1!

As others have mentioned, Shaun was very friendly and accommodating. He was able to book us at the last minute, was right on time and responsive when we needed to extend our rental by 2 hours mid-trip. He pointed out some really cool areas to visit, including an Eagle nest and we had an incredible view of a mature eagle. We also saw a porpoise and had an adorable seal follow us closely for about an hour.nnNow some helpful tips: 1) most of the interesting stuff was on the Mount Desert side of the narrows. Instead of Lamoine Beach, save yourself the trouble and pick Hadley point as your launch. 2) try and go on a Sunday, it’s the only day the fishermen aren’t working and the water was incredibly calm and peaceful. 3) there’s plenty of areas to pull off for a break, pack some lunch 4) binoculars are must have 5) don’t forget to tip Shaun like we did (hopefully this review helps make up for it)

Shaun was incredible and knowledgeable about the area/water. He was there waiting for us and took the time to help us adjust the kayak pedals. It wasn’t the best weather for kayaking and we (I) didn’t make it very long, but Shaun was super responsive to pick up the kayaks when I texted. HIGHLY recommend and we’ll be calling him next time we come back to ME.
