This school was great back in the 80's and I enjoyed my four years!! Awesome teachers and amazing staff.. Small but lots of potential, and comfortable to get around in!!! Back then this school was tough to get into and it was Considered one of the most popular schools in the District. Furthermore I can say With great pride I graduated from this school with honors and I'm glad I had the opportunity to attend!!!! 88-91....
Worst school of my life the school has rats everywhere and the kids are the terrible and the staff only care to play games on their phone if i could suggest a good school i would suggest Amundsen their school is very good the staff actually care about the students and not about themselvesnGo To Amundsen i send my kids there and they were well educated. Sent your kids to Amundsen you won't regret it.
I honestly feel Mather high school was a child's playground and cheated me out of a proper education. Teachers would pass anybody who attended classes, fights throughout the school on the daily. Bullying and gang violence at an all time high. I went here from 2006-2009. This school didnt prepare me for life or college for that matter. This school felt like it was designed for failure. I'm glad I got extra help in college. Do not send your children here. Let them have a bright future and at least stand a chance when they get older.
I was here for one of my kids swim meets. The facilities were clean and safe. It was easy to access from public transportation. The viewing area was comfortable.
As a freshman attendant to the school as of now and having been reading all the negative reports on Mather High School, I think it's time for a new, current, review. As I have read, people complain of gang fights and catastrophic behavior. Most comments are from years ago. The most recent I have seen was 3 years ago. This school has changed dramatically. There are barely any fights, little or (most of the time) no gang activity, and the staff are actually trying to help. It is more of a normal high school now. Although it's not the best high school, it is certainly permitable.
