Such a cool gem located here in good old Champaign. Anytime I have an out of town visitor I bring them here & they love it! The guides are knowledgable & provide an educational & fun experience for people of all ages.

Who knew there is a planetarium in Champaign? I didn't. Not only that, it's the second largest in illinois after Adler in Chicago, and I checked there is a few other in Illinois. It was a bit hard to get there because it's a curvy and long road after exiting Bradley Ave. Great display of photos and objects outside of the theater. We watched a short documentary. The lady that introduced us to the show was fun and knowledgeable, I learned a lot about stars.

We love the planetarium. Staff are fantastic, shows are educational and we can't say enough about it. Just wish they had a few more shows!

Quick responses to emails, lovely planetarium. Amazing how it can be found in the middle of Illinois. Well done presentation. Easy 5 stars.

The Staerkel Planetarium is a hidden gem in the Champaign area.nnThe Good: The planetarium theater itself was beautiful. Located on the Parkland College campus, the planetarium's state-of-the-art digital projection system, operated by the (nicest) planetarium director, Dave Leake, proved to be breathtaking. His storytelling held my son's attention the entire time - and I'm sure seeing Santa up in the sky didn't hurt either!nnThe Bad: At the time of our visit, campus construction blocked the front entrance of the planetarium, making it a bit difficult to navigate our way inside.nnOverall: We loved the kid-friendly show at the William M. Staerkel Planetarium, and would certainly return for another show!
