Very nice historical museum. Great place to stop for anyone in Troy interested in history. They have lots of exhibits and materials ranging from the Antebellum period all the way up to WW2 and the Vietnam era. It is also a good place for families to take a trip. Would recommend.
One of the most Interesting places in the area. Great parking, Handicapped accessible, and reasonably priced. The people who work here add to the wonderful experience of visiting because for them it is not just a job. They are very proud and knowledgeable about the museum. They had the most wonderful insights to items and their history. The inside of the museum is easy to navigate and maintained nicely. It is a fun place to take the family or just a regular trip. We will definitely be returning.
We were so excited to stop and see the moon tree and take a break from the road and see the pioneer village. That was until the caretaker and her worker minion came after us for being there 10minutes before they opened. All we did was park in parking lot and look at the moon tree while in the parking lot and await them to open at 9:00 am and then a rude lady came out and was what I deem uneccasarily rude. She seemed to be upset that we were there early and after her behavior we decided we wanted to leave and not stay and see anything else. In conclusion the owner, worker , manager I don't know here is not very nice and not very welcoming. They depend on grants and donations to run this facility. So if you decide to stop here ensure you take lots and lots of donation money so they can welcome you with open arms. To bad I would have been happy to make a considerable donation if this place was more welcoming to my family and I.
Love the Alabama Pioneer Museum. We haven't visited in over 20 years... time has taken it's toll.nnMany outside exhibit buildings have degraded and needs attention. The covered bridge is in good shape, so it's safe to cross.nnInside exhibits in good shape and we'll worth the visit to get a glimpse of AL past.nnImpressed with the tribute to Alabama Baptist Children's homes and orphanage history.
Didnt go thru museum couldnt see paying $20 for my partner & i.... gift shop was cool- cute stuff pricey tho
