Big Schloss is a fun hike. Uphill for .6 of a mile and then some ups and down for the rest of the 1.5 miles.
Wet hike at the beginning due to a spring being in the trail and would recommend hiking boots over tennis shoes for this hike. The first half is steep and more strenuous until you make it onto the ridge and after that it is pretty laid back till you reach the 1/4 spur that gets you to the view and rock outcroppings. The view is almost 360 and the elevation makes a truly awesome hike. Would highly recommend!
A beautiful nicely maintained resilient trail, with no trash even though it's heavily visited by hikers. Gorgeous scenery. We were very proud to have completed this hike.
The mill mountain to Big Schloss trail is my personal favorite thus far. There is another trail to Tibbet knob across the street that is just a tid bit shorter and easier. There is no camera that can do these views justice, you must come here and make the climb to fully appreciate the majestic panoramic opportunities of West Virginia.
