COVID 19 seems to be priority number 1. The souls of the faithful not so much

Sacred Heart parish has always been my church since I was born. I can still remember the old church on Crisp Street where I was baptized and received the sacrament of Communion. There was a covered sidewalk connecting to the Teresian Convent, and when students would attend mass during the school day, we took a short cut through the convent sidewalk to get to church. On the way back if it was time for dismissal, my friends and I would buy Sr. Dolores’ raspas. It beat shaved ice any day!nSacred Heart was the place where I learned to be one with the Lord. I received the sacraments with Father Mozos officiating and later, in the new church, Father Billy, Father Fecher and Father Ken heard my confessions; Father Eddie is my confessor now.nThe Teresians prepared me not just for the sacraments; they taught me how to make a good examination of conscience, daily prayers and beautiful lessons of eternal life with Christ, for which I am indebted. I learned about the tabernacle, the monstrance housing the body and blood of Christ and that his Passion, Cross and Resurrection brought salvation. I believe that with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, everything is possible because God is omniscient, all-forgiving, almighty, all-merciful and all-loving. Catechism was not your typical chapter lessons. Instead, daily religion classes brought a closer, unbreakable relationship with God.nSacred Heart Church helped me to serve God through my work, prepared me to take care of my:parents when they needed me the most and to seek the peace that comes only with union to the Holy Spirit. I remember as a student, I wanted to earn many holy medals that were attached to beautiful satin ribbons rewarded for honesty, generosity, helping others, for trying the hardest, for being saintly, not the superlatives of most popular or most likely to succeed. We were taught to give to the poor. This bothered me terribly as a child because it meant I had to give up two or three cents. This financial sacrifice meant I could only have three of Sr. Paz’s glorious cookies instead of five. (That’s how good they were!) But out of the 7 cents my daddy would give me for cookies and milk, God gave me the grace to “give until it [hurt]” as St. Mother Teresa encouraged,nI could have never, ever walked alone in life without Jesus guiding me or the Blessed Mother protecting me through trials and dark periods. Faith taught me that God’s will is holy, regardless of any lifelong goals or plans. I’ve known for a long time God always wants the best for me and to trust him fully gives me peace.nThis gift of undying faith has become one of those mysteries I embrace daily as God continues to witness miracles each day.nI walk a very simple life now at age 63, but with a reservoir of moral and religious convictions that keep me giving God all the glory. Under the auspices of Sacred Heart Church, our priests and Teresians, who would want to go anywhere else? ⭐ufe0f⭐ufe0f⭐ufe0f⭐ufe0f⭐ufe0f⭐ufe0f⭐ufe0f⭐ufe0f⭐ufe0f⭐ufe0fOnce a Catholic, always a Catholic.
