Dr. William S. Garris, DMD

If I could give a zero, I would. Garris Dentistry took over the practice from Dr. Susan Jacques in Holly Hill SC, with whom my wife and I had been patients for quite a few years. Dr. Jacques accepted my dental insurance payments since she was in my insurance network and always treated us fairly. However, I was not notified beforehand that the practice had been sold when we went for our next appointment. This appointment was made before Dr. Jacques sold the practice.nnThe new receptionist took the insurance cards before hand and NEVER mentioned a thing about the practice no longer being in my insurance network. I did not find out that they would not honor the insurance plan until that evening when I checked the network coverage for a periodontist that they recommended that my wife needed to see as soon as possible who turned out to not be in my dental network plan. I then noticed that Garris Dentistry was not listed either as being in my dental plan. When I called the next day to question them about their being out of network, the new receptionist gave me an attitude and told me that Garris Dentistry had never been in any insurance plan. I should have been told this upfront. I told her I paid for insurance coverage to cover my dental expenses and not to have to pay extra because they did not honor my dental insurance and that I would find another Dentist office that would. She then copped an attitude with me, claiming that I was not going be be able to find another Dentist office that would honor my dental insurance. I promptly told her that I had four pages of Dentists in the area that did accept my insurance. I did not appreciate at all her attitude, and that she lied to me claiming that other offices would not honor the insurance at all. She obviously thought she could lie to me about this and I would just believe her and they would be able to overcharge me for future visits.nnThe conversation was, by this time getting a little tense, and Dr. Jacques old receptionist who was still working there overheard the conversation and interceded and took over the conversation. I told her that I did not pay for insurance to go off network and pay a bunch extra and that I was looking elsewhere. I told her that I would be requiring my medical records and that i was making an appointment with a periodontist that was in network and that I wanted our medical records. I was promised that the records would be sent out.nnWhen we arrived about two weeks later at the periodontist's office, they told me that they had called TWICE for my wife's records but the records had never been sent by Garris Dentistry. Those records were our records, and should have been sent when they were requested.nnMy recommendation: STAY AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE. Their charges were way over the amount that would have been paid by my insurance. They overcharge for their services, and they cannot be trusted to provide patient records when requested. I will never make the mistake of doing business with Garris Dentistry again.n.

Great atmosphere ! Everyone is so nice! I started by taking my son because an issue we were having. The time and compassion I felt from the nurses and Dr Garris floored me! We then started getting our teeth cleaned. I’ve been recommending his office to everyone!
