Diversicare of Southaven

Very nasty place to send your love ones...they let my wife almost dehydrate completely and she was losing oxygen because the nurse called me one night at my job and said they needed to send her to emergency room at Baptist Desoto because she's losing oxygen.When she got there the doctor gave her so much water and said shes been dehydrated..also she couldn't talk or ask for water at diversicare because she had a stroke and was trying to recover! Also everytime you called to speak to a nurse, they let the phone ring many times and you can't get threw!

My mother in law passed away after contracting Covid during her stay with Diversicare. DO NOT put your loved ones here during this pandemic! We trusted they would take precautions and unfortunately we lost her due to their failure to do so. She's been with them since Nov 2020 and on Jan 2, 2021 she tested positive for Covid and passed away from it on Jan 17, 2021.nnThat's horrendous but it doesn't stop there. My husband went to pick up her belongings and after he was told the night before that everything was packed up and ready, turns out was a total lie. He had to wait 3 HOURS for them to gather her belongings. They tried to give him only a couple charging cables she had in her isolation room, leaving out ALL of her actual belongings from her room until he demanded her things.nnTo top it all off she had a will that would've been in her possession but they are clueless about that. Plus her debit card, I.D., and important papers she carries everywhere with her miraculously DISAPPEARED. This leaves us with ZERO financial and legal resources in which to carry out her final wishes.nnI'm sorry but when your negligence causes someone to contract something that kills them could you not at least make sure their belongings are handled properly and you don't impede their final wishes from being taken care of by their family?!?! So we are blindly trying to settle her estate with zero to go on due to their gross incompetence. Shame on you!

I will rate them 1 star only because there are some caring people. My wife was in there for a little under two weeks. In that period of time nobody could tell me anything about how my wife was responding to Rehab. All they said was she wouldn't do it. Well I come to find out they were giving her digoxin, a heart medication that slows the heart down and tries to keep it from getting arithmia. When she left Baptist Desoto Hospital she wasn't on that medication. Somebody changed her meds at Diversicare. She went back into the E/R and was in ICU for 5 days. To put it point blank I wouldn't put a sick animal in there.

If I could give this place no stars, I would. In December 2016, my Pappy had a stroke. After being released from the hospital, he went to this nursing home. He was unable to speak and could not feel the right side of his body. He was part of physical therapy and speech therapy that they stopped doing after only two months. He could nod yes and no, and smile but that was about it. They barely took care to make sure his body was okay, and he got bed sore because of it, which they also never took consideration for. He was almost never bathed as much as they said they did, and his mouth was never taken care of, and built up bacteria. I would also like to say that the people who work here are horrible to patients, as we saw them constantly yelling at them when they wanted something. We moved him to another nursing home far away in May, and a day after being moved there, he passed away. We would sue this place, but it would be too much of a burden for our family (his sister and brothers) to take on in their old age. I want to share this story so the same thing doesn't happen to another family. Thank you for reading and I hope you find another place to send your family members to now.

I love this facility the staff have been.very professional,the food is great but you do need to let them know your needs,and ask for what you need.the physical therapy was a pleasure .
