Gathland State Park

This was a very nice adventure today. The arch is beautiful. There are hiking trails. You can access the Appalachian Trail from here. There are a few ruins of old buildings. There's a loop trail, it's called interpretive trail, which is behind the arch. It is clearly marked and there are signs along the trail. This is a nice trail if you have little kids who can't walk that much yet.nThere are bathrooms but they are closed for the winter. A portable potty is available in one of the parking lots. There is plenty of parking. I saw at least 2 pet waste stations.

Beautiful day at this beautiful place, is so nice at this time of the year is not hot is not cold , only chilly, we walk around the trails, absolutely gorgeous.

Had cell signal half the time. Harper's Ferry town was pretty crowded and AT&T is basically the only serviceable cell provider there but the Appalachian Trail was great and not that difficult at all just fairly long. Not too scenic though until you hike next to the Potomac. The bike path is great for this.

Lots of history to learn. Had a great 7 mile hike. Nice drive to get there. Not terribly crowded

It's an interesting place to visit but don't get your hopes up. This is a tiny park.
