Indian River County Courthouse

Overall, I’d say the complex is above average in comparison to other courthouses. I think one has to take in account the reasons people have to visit here which can dictate a bit of how the employees treat customers. I’ve read some of the reviews about the security personnel and have to admit they’ve never really been cozy with me either but that’s part of what they are there for. They have to be at high alert all the time. That’s gotta take a toll on someone’s emotions over time. I’ve found many of the employees throughout the building to be very kind and helpful. I recommend this place.

Fast and efficient. No one wants to go to the courthouse, but the folks, here, made everything easy. Probate clerks were friendly, helpful, and informed.

The court house opens at 830am. The earliest I can drop my 7yr old at school is 815 am. So why am I, at the 11th hour, suddenly instructed to report for jury duty at 815am when I call in? WHY was this NOT on the original paperwork???? I just had to write my teenage son an excuse for an absence from high school because of a lack of communication. I would have written in to excuse myself if it would have been made clear my presence was required before the building even opens.

We expect our civil servants to be civil, not my experience today.nnHad an appointment today for possible jury duty at 8am, my car broke down at about 7:22am, on my way, couldn't call it in until they opened at 8am. Now, while I'm out in the morning heat in long sleeves, waiting for assistance I call the line and instead of sympathy and understanding what I get is a warning of things that may come.nnNot everybody is the same and can't be treated the same. I'm sure some people would rather not be bothered with the service, but, that's not me. The inconvenience to my daily responsibilities is great, but I, chose to do my duty, I even went down to the courthouse 2 months prior and arranged the appointment I had for today.nnI would rather, before you as a civil servant, get on the phone, check your attitude and preconceptions at the door before clocking in. My day was made worst because of you.

Nice building and design. I hope not to be in there many times. Too bad a small town like Vero Beach needs a huge Court House to keep the peace.
