A bit disheartened with the service (or lack thereof) I received at this library today). I requested a book to be put on hold a few days ago. I received an email today at 11:19 am today but did not see it until 4:30. I arrived at the library at 4:52 pm. No issue with this, I realized I was cutting it close. With covid restrictions, I understand that the rules are constantly changing as well. I take issue with how I was treated as I was walking up to the library door. The woman taking in a sign yelled that the library was closed when she saw me, looked at me with disgust on her face like I was crazy for not calling ahead (I had no issues at the library when I went inside 3 weeks ago), then waved dismissively at me while she walked away and made sure I could see her locking the door. I went back to my car and called the library, the kind gentleman who answered the phone assisted me and told me to wait while he searched for my book on hold (since the library closes at 5 and at this point it was 4:56). He came back on the line and explained that unfortunately, the book I requested had been sent back to a different library due to the library closing down. It's extremely unfortunate that the book was not even on the hold shelf for 24 hours before being sent elsewhere (I'm pretty sure the policy is typically 9 days).nnI've been a member of this community for over 30 years and I try to be neighborly. I greet people when I walk by, pause for individuals to cross the street, and just try in general to be a good member of the community. I get that times are hard and people have things going on in their lives but if you can't have a decent/respectful conversation at your local library with staff and get a physical hand shooing as if you're a dog, I feel sorry for the people who do not have anywhere else to get library-like services. I don't think this interaction is indicative of the usual service I get at this library but a simple, please call this number and wait over there would have been sufficient instead of rudeness and a look of disdain.

Here is my 10+ years experience.nnFront desk is friendly, and very helpful. Me and my kids come to this library a lot.nI highly believe it needs renovation in and out.nIt is kind of boaring! It needs brightness...paint, carpet change or something! Hope to see the change in near future.
