Good parking access to several trails. Some benches and trash cans under cover near parking lot, but no picnic beaches or grills. Trails themselves are well maintained. Access to the Potomac. Some wildlife, but also a ton of invasive plants, like Japanese Honeysuckle, dominate the foliage and appear to be disrupting the local ecosystem. The Refuge clearly needs dedicated resources and personnel to clear the numerous invasives and restore the land to it's natural state.

Enjoyed a pleasant nature walk here. The trails are very wide and pretty well maintained, but unfortunately there is a lot of litter throughout. I hope park maintenance is able to take care of it.nnIt was very cool to see a bald eagle here!

Really great place for all weather hiking and interacting with nature! Trails are wide and graveled (the size of a one lane road). No need to worry about muddy conditions. Lots of trail options and bathrooms are handy. Lots of wildlife to observe.

Accessed through Veterans Park, the easy and wide trails take you through estuary, pond and river habitat with all the wildlife that entails. It is a favorite dog walking place for our family

While most of the trails are technically gravel roads, they do offer a stroll through forest, wetland and grassland areas full of wildlife. There isn't a beach as such, and although one can walk down to the river, it would be challenging to walk along the waters edge as it is lined by rocks and boulders. The park is nonetheless well worth a visit, offers scenic views of the bay, and a chance to see a variety of waterfowl and birds of prey. Enjoy!
