I unfortunately had to rehome my dog 5 or 6 years ago her name was Mocha I still have her name tag the staff was very friendly and understanding about the whole situation and she wasn't at the shelter long maybe a month or month in a half I wonder how she is I miss her soooooo much

Our aging but very active pointer needed a playmate because her 10-year-old English mastiff brother was just a bit too old and sore to keep up with her. When we saw Biscuit's picture on the shelter's web page, we decided that the 1-year-old female may be the perfect sister. When we got there the beautiful white dog in the picture was barking ferociously with her ears back and her teeth showing. We decided to take another dog for a walk instead but who had a little too much energy. When the director assured us that Biscuit was a real sweetheart AND was a recent graduate of Coffeewood Canines, a program in which inmates train and socialize shelter dogs for their future families, we decided to take her for a test walk. Piper, aka Biscuit, is the sweetest dog ever. When she isn't playing with her older sister, she is playing with her even older brother. She was just pretending to be fierce because she was frightened. Don't judge a book by its cover or a dog by her bark. Go to the Orange County Animal Shelter and give a dog a chance to be the best dog in your world.

It breaks my heart typing this but I wish so much that we had been warned. We adopted two kittens from Orange County through pet smart charities this summer. We found two sweet little cats and inquired. Although they had some records in their folder about things they had previously been treated for, nothing was written about current ongoing problems. We asked multiple times if there was anything we needed to know or do for the cats health and we were told that they were ready to go and the only thing we would need to do were rabies. This was the opposite of what happened. Within the first week they were incredibly sick and took them to the vet. They had several issues that were clearly ongoing and not treated. We’ve gone to the vets every month if not every two weeks. I do not think it is fair or right to have unhealthy cats available without serious discussions with those wanting to adopt. This has been a financial burden and has taken a serious emotional toll on our mental health as we have been dealing with all of these issues. It’s so disappointing and heartbreaking. We just don’t know what else to do.

Wonderful and caring staff. They help you find the right animal for you and your lifestyle. You can tell they quickly fall in love with each and every animal that comes through their doors. We adopted our sweet girl from them several years ago and cannot Thank them enough for the love and care they showed her and for putting us all together!

I've gotten now 2 of my fur babies from here. They take such good care of their animals until they find their forever home. I love this shelter.
