Ambiance and serving staff were absolutely top notch. The decor and location is great. Has a nice feel as you walk in and the friendly staff found me a good table quickly. Unfortunately the food was terrible - (inedible terrible).Spaghetti was well cooked and the sauce was delicious, but the meatballs were frozen in the middle and the whole dish was covered in a thick thick layer of that processed parmesan, which made it so salty I couldn't eat it, and was totally unnecessary as it came with sufficient shavings of real cheese. Such a shame as it could have been so good. 1 star for today's food, but overall rating rescued by the staff and ambiance.

I was making sweet, passionate love to a delicious Vodka Basil Cucumber Gimlet, but then cheated on it with New England Clam Chowder...and never looked back.nI lived in New England for 14 years and have never had a clam chowder as good as this!nThe drinks were excellent, the food was excellent, and the owner and staff couldn’t have been more professional and nice!!!nWhat a wonderful afternoon...can’t wait to go back!

We stumbled into Culpepper for the 1st time on a Friday afternoon and happened to walk to Grass Rootes for lunch. Such a pleasant surprise. We sat outside on the back deck with our dog. EVERYONE was so friendly to both us and our dog. I had the BEST BLT I've ever had!! The drinks were so refreshing. We loved how most of the food is from local sources. The manager was very nice and we enjoyed his explanation of the history of the property.We definitely will be back to enjoy the live music!

Had the crab cakes and salmon and both were delicious. Vegies were cooked to perfection and staff was attentive and pleasant. Nice historic building with warm inviting atmosphere.

I always enjoy our meals from Grass Rootes. The service is excellent and the food is delicious!
