We've traveled a lot this summer already, and I'd have to say our favorite place yet has been Onancock, Virginia. A small, charmingly slower-paced town where everybody knows everybody and they all seem to get on like family! The owner of The Spinning Wheel bed and breakfast was no exception to this, and rather exemplified it. He is running the place on his own these days, in the wake of personal loss, with a strong spirit and a kind and friendly heart. I found the place absolutely homey as the other reviewers have said. Above all, his friendly helpfulness and loads of good advice to a couple of prospective bed and breakfast owners was most appreciated.nnIf you are looking for a quite fancy-fluffy, spacious-yet-stuffy, elegant-yet-arrogant sort of bed and breakfast, move on. This one is classic-yet-cozy, and so, so friendly! Also... Our dog, DJ Foxy, tends to strongly dislike having to socialize with other dogs, but the three-legged charmer who lives here didn't bother him at all. They often made nice floor rugs together in the living room while we chatted endlessly about the trials and joys of bed and breakfast ownership and the super interesting people we would surely meet. So many good stories here.nnAdding some photos to the mix as well.
The stay was excellent. We enjoyed Dutch puff breakfast food and eggs. The hosts are very friendly and recommended many interesting things to do and see in the area. It was a wonderful atmosphere with Victorian furniture and beautiful scenery. We stayed in the cozy room which was cool and comfortable. We will be there next summer.
One of our favorite getaway places. Charming host and hostess.
The bed & breakfast is so homey! I love the cozy feeling during my stay here.
