Been going to this area for years, mostly in the summer but recently visited in the winter- absolutely stunning scenery every time. The sunsets are captivating and I could watch the waves and wildlife for hours. Also some really cool tide pools in the area and long stretches of beach for walking or running.
I love staying at The Happy Clam and o love the beach
Truly a hidden spot on the coast. Almost always no one else around, no matter the weather. It’s actually named for not just one arch that’s there now – but a few that were bundled together, which fell apart in the 30s. The giant rubble/boulders you see now are left over from that. Insider’s Tip: on rare occasions that arch is accessible – at extremely low tides, or when sand levels get extremely high and keep the tides away. More big insider tips if you look up the Cannon Beach / Arch Cape Virtual Tour (like the ancient ghost forests here or why it was originally called Cannon Beach). Watch out here in winter: this beach is not wide and thus dangerous during higher tides.
