Really excellent experience here with the staff for (first visit): cleaning/check-up & (second visit): two fillings. Both times I felt a good comfort level and state of care overall. The staff and Dr. Samuel would consistently check in with me to make sure I was doing ok. I was referred by another who also had two great experiences and they were referred by someone else as well.

two fillings fell out one year exactly after they were done in this place, got a surprise bill from them same day also, while my insurance covered everything year earlier. two stars only for the nice nurses who cleaned my teeth. doctors should go to school again to learn to do fillings properly

Rodney Wilkerson and Michelle Olson are some of the worst employers I've ever came across. They own Dental Depot in La Junta Colorado. They just fired 5 mom's on the same day. I shared a YouTube video showing these people's true colors. Such horrible buisness owners.

Side note before review: They have changed their name to Grace Dental Studio now. I am not sure if that's an official change or not.nThe main reason I chose Taos County Dental was they were one of the only dentist offices that takes Medicaid in Taos, NM. So I was willing to be okay with some of the not very professional behavior at first in order to get work I needed done. However, I am never going back to them after the last visit. I had a lot of work to be done but I did not want it done at once. However Doctor Samuels said that he could do it all in one visit and with dentist office hours less cuz of Covid I thought okay, I guess it's alright. He did not take an x-ray of any of the teeth before starting. The last x-rays that had been taken were many months ago so I doubt they were still accurate. The stuff that is supposed to numb the gums for the application of novacaine shots was given no time to do so before the shots, he literally did one right after the other and the novacaine shots were so painful my eyes were tearing and he didn't stop when I waved my hands for him to. He then tried to blame me for being too sensitive, asking me when the last time I had novacaine shots and had I always reacted to them like that. I told him that I was always fine with shots but he hadn't let the gums become numb at all, he knew all this I think he is simply a sadist.. I had 7 fillings to get done, and rather than do one at a time he drilled each tooth one after another and then filled them all at the same time. Long story short, less a week later my teeth were hurting me more than they had before. I went to another dentist and got an x ray and it showed that Doctor Samuels had not removed the cavities from any of the teeth, he had just drilled a bit and filled them. I see now from other reviews he has a history of doing this. This lead to a massive tooth infection. I am never going back there, and I strongly advise people to avoid it. It is sad that poor people should have to deal with stuff like this just because they cannot afford dentists that don't take medicaid.

I’m sure this office could do your basic cleaning, but don’t let Dr. Samuels touch you with his instruments. I visited this office to have a chipped filling repaired 6 months ago. The consultation was excellent, but when I returned for the dental work a different doctor (Dr. Samuels) came in, needle in hand, and drilled away at my tooth for what seemed like forever. I started experiencing pain for the first time in that tooth the following day, and it has gotten much worse. The office does not care. If you are displeased by the care provided their only suggestion is that you go to another dentist instead of trying to fix their mistake. I am now seeing another dentist and will pay $3000 out of pocket to do a root canal on that tooth. Save yourself the trouble, pain, and money and go to someone who will give you adequate care the first time.
