Santo Niño Chapel

This is a beautiful adobe-made Catholic church with a steeple and functioning bell. The only bathrooms available are very rustic male and female private outhouses. It appears very steeply entrenched in tradition. Uniquely obvious are the beautiful very thick, two feet or more, wide adobe dirt walls with nice remodeled windows. Inside are artistic Catholic wooden carving from old Spanish-era Catholics. The stations of the Cross are neatly hung on the walls. There, adjacent is a cemetery with a beautiful lilac bush in front of church. The cemetery is dating back to mid 1800's. The altar inside is adorned with much intricate Old Spanish detail. Underneath the floor (which cannot be seen) are many remains-skeletons of the buried first settlers of Monte Aplanado and Pacheco Village. Historically, this a great area to visit and view the stunning gorgeous landscape, a nice nearby pond, forestry and not so high mountains. It really is a very peaceful, inspiring, thought-provoking structure. Almost instantly, it takes one back and with a genre of a special and sacred place.
