New ownership is rude. Over the years I have spent thousands in this store. The routine is always the same. I walk in with my wife and our four kids. We sit down at the small kid table and pick a book to read as a family. I read it to them while my wife finds books, puzzles, and a variety of other things to waste money on. I read the book and at the end we purchase it and the kids all pick another book for themselves. Today we waited to get in until the other customers were gone because of the limited capacity rule. No big deal, then went to the table. I got to page three of the five Chinese brothers (one of my favorite) when the new owner came over and very rudely told me not to read the book. I have never been to a bookstore where I couldn’t preview the book and it was keeping the kids calm while their mother shopped. I won’t buy another thing here. I will order online and save 50% of their inflated prices

My husband ran in this afternoon and purchased a $50 book. Later, our son was heading to the store to buy a book and was a witness to a very sad event. Finally, he arrived at the store, picked out a book, and handed her a credit card. She shook her head in irritation because it wasn’t cash. That is the last time we will ever purchase anything from the store. We’ve been visiting the island since 1970’s and come every year. The last thing he needed was a snotty person when he was trying to patronize her store.

Wonderful bookstore with lots of extra games and puzzles for kids.

A small bookstore with an excellent inventory of fiction and nonfiction. A strong kids section and they have Block Island covered as well. Two thumbs up.

Delightful independent bookstore that serves as the perfect refuge on the island for when the weather is uncooperative and you need books or boardgames. The staff is incredibly patient and knowledgeable and they've got a good selection of unusual historical books on Block Island and nearby parts of Rhode Island.
