My wife and I just visited the annual Steam-up at this fantastic little museum. They have the best collection of 18 and 1900's power machinery I have ever seen. Most of these old steam engines actually run. In addition they have a collection of early underwater telegraph machinery as well as the longest continuously operating radio station in the US. On this visit we saw a Stanly Steam car next to a 21st century Tesla electric car.nnCheck their website for next year's Steam-up and put it on your calendar. If you admire both ingenuity and engineering this place is a must.
