My neighbor and I both called 311 at 7pm and filed a blocked driveway complaint it’s 11pm and the cops still have not arrived to give car blocking our driveway a ticket. I’ve also called the police station several times over the past 4hrs and they haven’t answered the phone once. I would give zero stars if that was an option.

I called because my car had been towed from off a block that was doing construction. Instructions were to call this precinct. The greeting I received was not only unprofessional but I was asked with disgust who told me to call. Uh, the poster plastered on every tree. The officer never asked my plate number or registering state. As I type this review, I can clearly hear him having a conversation in the background as I continue to wait to be serviced. Seems like professionalism, courtesy and respect is something that's just painted on their (police officers) cars these days.

I was rear ended. I pulled over and addressed the situation with the involved driver. When I told him that we needed to call 911 to obtain a police report the driver got back into his car and sped off while I was on the phone with the 911 operator. I drove after the vehicle because I hadn’t gotten his license plate number and knew that I needed it to file a claim. The driver drove through red lights, onto the sidewalk and nearly hit two pedestrians trying to avoid me. Yet I managed to get close enough to obtain his plate number. The 911 operator, stayed on the phone with me the whole time, told me to pull over and wait for the responding officer to arrive. I called my insurance and gave them the plate number and was told that the car was not insured or could find a name attached to the car. The driver was driving this car illegally and call the police to get a name that was attached to plate number. So I waited approximately 40 minutes for the officer to arrive. When he arrived he stated that I was not in his jurisdiction and that I would have to either return to the original scene of the accident or go file a police report at 73rd street precinct. I went back to the scene of the accident (6 min drive away) and called 911 again. They told me to wait for an officer to arrive. I wait over 1 and a half hours. No one came. Two police cars passed in that time yet would not stop for me. I left the scene and went to the 73rd precinct instead. I explained the situation to the officer at the help window and here’s what he said, and I paraphrase, “unfortunately since you left the scene of the accident there’s nothing we can do but file a accident report that you give to your insurance. We can’t file a hit and run because you also fled the scene”. I stated that I only followed to get the plate number to relay back to the police and get a name attached to the plate, so that I can file a lawsuit against this particular uninsured driver. They then said “How do we know you’re not making this up? And do you expect us to arrest this man? What if he says he didn’t do it? It’s his word against yours”. Shocked, I said I have him on a video recording fleeing. My passenger witness everything. And what if I stayed on the scene... would the crime actually have happened then? He stated that we would have filed a hit and run report had I stayed on the scene but since I left this is not a crime. I LEFT TO GET HIS PLATE NUMBER so that the police can track him, I replied. He said that, no matter what that this would be just a summons and that police have taken higher priority this evening and basically there’s nothing they could do after I fled. Now I find this all very hard to believe. I also find that the officer was rude, nonchalant and didn’t care. Fine. But this was STILL a crime that I went to report and was told that it wasn’t something the police handled since I left the scene. So in conclusion, basically in Brooklyn New York when you ram into back of someone’s car and speed away, according to this officer, it is not a crime! I’m appalled at the service I received from this precinct. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do but write this review. I will have to fix the car myself so my insurance doesn’t go up. With enough of these complaints maybe our voices will be heard and change to their policing policies will be made. Shame on you 73rd precinct for treating me like I was beneath you. Based on reading these other complaints this is your reputation. You are a failure to the system.nnUpdate: the issue has been looked into thanks to Officer Campbell.

Call to report a car accident wait 6 hours, call 911 three times, no show. They dispatch to 73 pct. Called the 73 Pricinct two times no answer from any extension including the operator. Thank God no one is hurt or trapped but still sitting out side waiting. Other cop cars passed by an they are nice enough o say they don't take the rwport. It wasn't dispaced to them. Uggh. Terrible service. I hope they come quicker if a person is hurt.
