Angelika Film Center & Café - New York

This is my favorite theater downtown. The Lobby is really cool and not generic like so many other theaters. The movies are also well curated. It's one of the few places in the city where my wife and I will pick the theater first and then see what's playing. We've watched lots of great movies there that we wouldn't have encountered otherwise. Also I think all movie theater popcorn is great, but the popcorn here actually is a little bit better.nnOnly downside (and not worth losing a star) is that they don't have stadium seating, but to me, it's worth it for all the other factors. Screens are high and I've never had any trouble seeing over someone.

So happy the Angelika has opened after being closed a year because of the pandemic.nnThe theater is going above and beyond to take precautions to make sure patrons and staff are safe. I saw some staff members wearing shields and masks while others had double masks.nnSeating in the theater was all socially distanced and i felt safe watching a movie.nnI grabbed a coffee in the cafe and learned that i could place an order on the Angelika app for even more contact-free, safe concessions ordering.

A nice range of films, with discounts, for matinees and seniors. The employees are very friendly and accommodating, and the restrooms are clean. I strongly recommend this theatre to all!

A NY gem! Great destination for artistic, independent, and foreign films. Not the most comfortable seating.

It was a pleasure to be back at the Angelika and to once again hear the musical fanfare before the movie started.
