Having attended a citizenship swearing in ceremony about 5 years ago in Manhattan, I was amazed and disappointed about the process in Brooklyn.nnFirst, phones are taken when entering the building. In Manhattan, they were allowed and the judge administering the oath posed with families afterward. One of the people, proudly posed in the lobby with her certificate - outside of security, and was promptly yelled at for no photos in the building.nnSecond, I accompanied the person becoming a citizen. Expecting to be shown into the same room as in Manhattan, I was brusquely told you go to the 3rd floor cafeteria.“ He addressed us like we were criminals. When I asked if I would be able to see the ceremony, he responded only with “maybe.nnThird, the cafeteria isn’t inviting. We arrived early 8:10 - it’s an exciting occasion. I spent 3 hours sitting on a hard wooden chair, staring at a television screen - waiting for something to happen. Finally, the ceremony came on. It lasted about 5 minutes.nnIf I could recommend, don’t bother to go to support someone. Meet your friend or family member outside the building for photos afterwards.

If you’re coming here supporting a family member or friend for Citizenship Swearing in, do not come early. ONLY the person swearing in should be there at 8:00am - 8:30am. Friends and Family supporting should come around 10:30am - 11:00am. I did this yesterday. I came early. And waited from 8:30am to 11:30am (when the event finally started). The people working there said they’ve been trying to let people know not to come early, but instead of putting it in the invitation, they let us find out for ourselves.

Well put together place. Expensive looks. Fast service. Anyone can enter and explore. They also serve food here on the 3rd floor. Hugh quality court rooms. Remember to be silent. No phones allowed.
