The Surrogate's Court in New York City is a beautiful building, built in the Beaux-Arts style by architect John Rochester Thomas. The purpose of the Surrogate's Court is to handle all probate and estate proceedings for New York State. The building opened in 1907 and can be found opposite City Hall Park on the corner of Chambers Street and Centre Street.

Dedicated staff the goal posts move depending on which clerk you’re speaking to so it’s better to have your ducks in a row before going in there with that being said they are dedicated

Excellent, but really excellent service from Astra Williams. The entire staff is professional, knowledgeable, and wonderful to deal with. A very unexpected experience at a 'government' agency. Hat's Off and Thanks!

Really helpful staff with useful information. They helped me troubleshoot issues with Citibank who gave me a hard time closing my mother's account (she passed away) even though I had all the paperwork required to do so.
