While in my early 30s, I developed hip pain while running. As I eased away from running, the pain continued to deepen and occur more regularly. A few years later, I wasn't able to brisk walk more than a mile without developing a deep hip ache that would last the rest of the day. My father had recently had his hip replaced (he was 70ish at the time), and recommended I consult Dr Arvidson, so I made an appointment through my primary care physician. He found that I was born with hip dysplasia, and would require a total hip replacement within a year of diagnosis.nnAs this was my first surgery, I was very nervous. I'd put on weight due to the pain I experienced doing everyday physical tasks leading to a lack of exercise, so Dr Arvidson tailored his approach to where I was. The day of the surgery arrived, and the pros and cons of anesthesia types where enumerated. With all of the confusion and unknowns, Dr Arvidson and his team guided me through the right decisions for me. I'm now 5 days post-surgery, and almost off all medications. I am able to walk without any assistance (walker, crutches, cane, etc), I have more confidence in my replacement holding my weight than my hip pre-surgery (already), and have seen MAJOR recovery milestones every single day.nnI can't think Dr Arvidson and his team enough for getting me to where I am today.
