Went 12 years ago as a kid for stealing to support my heroin addiction. At the time I hated every second of my time there because lets face it, it was everyone else’s fault I was there. After having time to reflect, I was thinking about my first night there. I was in the Blue Pod. I was sick and shaking from heroin withdrawals and was freezing. My room was cold and the single thin blanket didn’t help. I told the night watch guy for our pod (forgot his name) and he was kind enough to let me out of my cell and let me watch tv for an hour and gave me an extra blanket because he knew I was going through hell. That is something they would never do for an adult in jail and was pretty cool. I have had worse food in my life, had grits for the first time and now am hooked on them. Also, school was easy their, but it made the time go by.
This is definitely the place where your child can spend time being grounded, but unfortunately not rehabilitated. Terrible idea to put a bunch of children with bad ideas together to share criminal behavior.
