This summer I had the responsibility of giving antibiotic infusions to my mother in law using the Pic line. I was fortunate enough to have Donna help me each week with refilling the meds. She talked to me each time so kindly and would ask me questions regarding my mother in law's health and well-being. Donna was genuinely concerned about my family. We even laughed on the phone and I feel like I have made a friend. After a recent cancer diagnosis, I was dismissed from the hospital with a PICC line and have recently experienced purchasing PICC line maintenance supplies from Amerita.nThe in-hospital meeting with the rep seemed a bit sketchy....like buying a TV out of the back of a van. The rep explained that insurance wouldn't cover the supplies to maintain the PICC line and that the cost for those supplies would be $15/day once I left the hospital. The next rep said the same thing, but that I'd also incur a more substantial charge (another $100 or so) for a nurse to change the dressing 1x per week. All of this seemed reasonable. But then, the delivery of the maintenance supplies needed to be set up and someone had to be home to receive the supplies directly. The 'drop off' is coordinated by a guy calling my phone and making sure I'm around, then a guy in a car w/ no signage pulls up and hands me a plain white bag w/ zip lock bags in it full of supplies along with a request for me to write a check on the spot for $210. The whole thing seems shady, but it worked. Time to re-supply. Here's where things got interesting. My wife and i realized we didn't need much of what they delivered so we pared the order down from 190 items to 90 items. Amerita delivered again, but this time, the price had jumped from $210 to $300 even though we had half as many products in the bag. I called to straighten this out and it appears that I'm not the first to be surprised by this. I'm told I can't return the product (even though it's all sealed in ziplocks and was delivered in a paper bag by a guy in an unmarked car) and I must pay the amount due (even though I got less product for 50% more money)...and, incidentally, the same products/qty's could be obtained through Amazon for less than $50.nIt's possible that Amerita has other services which customers are happy with. I can only speak to the services I needed. I've definitely been taken advantage of.

The answer to your questions is go to the er if your sick from not being able to connect to your TPN. Absolutely disgusted!!
