Yeah no think twice before you send your kid to this school. The majority of the staff here have absolutely no concern on your child's future. As a current student here I may come across as biased but I can definitely assure you that this review isn't. Please just try to find a school that has a better environment than here, you wont regret it.

For the last two years my son has struggled. While struggling NOT ONCE has any of his teachers emailed or called my wife or I to see if there was something going on or if they could help etc. I come from a family of educators. Many in my family are educators and service men or women as far back as we can remember. It wasn't until I called, visited or emailed the teachers that they became active outside of the classroom. It is really disturbing to me that teachers can't take a few min to contact a parent before the issue becomes a sore spot. I have visited teachers and they talk a good game while they are in front of you then you don't hear anything else for the rest of the year. It's not all on teachers but it should be a team effort to help kids succeed.nnI served 10 yrs in the army, I had some terrible soldiers in my 10 years. The one thing thing didn't do was give up on them. I made sure I was very active in those who needed extra help studying for promotions or staying out of trouble. I couldn't succeed unless everyone I was responsible for succeeded. I took my daughter out of her school and moved her to private school where they actually talk to parents and care about the welfare of their kids grades. I'm not saying these at dakota don't care nor am I speaking for all teachers in the school, just select ones my son has had over over the last two years.

The facilities are gorgeous and that the school does offer a variety of college prep and CTE programs to prepare people for their post-high school education. However, there have been documented instances of corruption, embezzlement, and sexual affairs among the staff there which hinders the educational experience for the children learning there. Further, their student awards are based on a point system which grossly favors athletics over the arts (so any Senior member of the drum corp who spends a month training for the football season while playing through both competitions and the entire football season gets 20 less points for their participation than the varsity wrestler who sits on the bench for every meet because they don't have someone in their weight class to wrestle.) Unless your child only has aspirations to stay in Macomb Township, you'd be better off sending them to either Chippewa Valley or a private/charter school for their education.

Worst school ever, the teaching system is a disgrace. The school faculty promotes corruption. Tardiness and absences are not reported on a daily basis. Don't be fooled by the rating of the school. They don't deserve any funding from anyone.
