Amazing theater with a great historic background. Avon Cinema has been pleasing customers for decades and havent let me down, not once. With great movies and great prices I believe nobody should feel bad coming to this theater and I ensure you visit.
Avon Cinema is a truly unique place and institution in Providence and Rhode Island. It is an independent movie theater. A few years ago, a new sound system was installed. It has one screen. Typically, there are 2 showings every evening, often two different movies. Sometimes, there are afternoon showings during the week, but, most afternoon showings are on the weekend. The theater is active in the community. Unfortunately, the bathrooms are on the second floor and are narrow, tiny places. Be aware of this if you need access for mobility. Subscription passes are available for a discount. Concessions are available. Occasionally, there are midnight showings of classic movies and movies with a cult following. The theater may be rented for private screenings & openings. Many notables from the community and from the film industry have taken part in talk-backs and roundtables at the Avon.
This is what a classic cinema experience should be! Unfortunately I'm having Avon withdrawal because of covid-19, but I have never been so eager to revisit an establishment as I am this one! A TRUE PROVIDENCE GEM!.....WE MISS YOU!

Always a great time at this historic theater. Great, eclectic films you can’t see anywhere else.nnOnce you’ve seen all the current films that you want to watch at your local chain Theatre, and you’re wondering what to do now... head on over to The Avon to see something totally different.nnWhile you’re at it, take a stroll down Thayer and feed your face at one of the many eateries along the strip.nnNever had a bad time there yet.
