A must-see spot in traverse city.

This is a wonderful historical stop in the Traverse City area and a must-see location. It is currently undergoing renovation. This magnificent structure was saved from decay in the mid-90s. Absolutely worth the visit. be sure to either take the historical tour or read all of historical signs on their first floor taking a full appreciation of what you're enjoying and what we almost lost

My fiancé and I stayed in a condo at the village for a weekend, and we had a fabulous time! We took a tour via B-50 and Catherine, our tour guide, showed us the grounds and gave us so much information on the history of the site! We also got to dine and shop at the village during our stay. There were several dining options, and tons of shops to walk through! If you're looking to shop local, shop here! Amazing gifts, beauty products, home decor, clothing, and more!

Our tour was absolutely amazing! It's just the right mix of historical and a tad spooky, and our tour guide Catherine was incredibly knowledgeable. If you're a history buff or just want to know a bit more about what it was like for the mentally ill in the mid to late 1800s up here, I can't recommend this tour enough!

You can't beat a walk around these historical buildings in the fall. Especially the old state hospital building. There's just something about the atmosphere that's calming and a little eerie (in the best way).
