This place is such a gem!! It is a wonderful way to vacation in Maine! Each guest has access to a full kitchen set up and you can make breakfast, lunch and dinner all on your own time. Just make sure you clean up after yourself and keep the table set for when you are not in the dining room! The guest rooms are sweet and comfortable! Right on the water's edge, you can't beat it!! Welcome to Maine! Welcome home!

August 14, 2019. “1st visit; we could only stay for 2 nights. And know in the future we’ll want a longer stay. We’ll request the same room; it will be on or near the full moon. The moon illuminated the sky. It’s light shown across the water right below our window. Our cell video has the sound of the surf as it hit the large rocks. Very special. We loved the history, communal dining, shared stories and genuinely friendly and accommodating hosts.”nnAlison. Carmel, CA

No frills Lodge on the ocean. Down to earth hosts Bill and Dawn make sure you are pointed in the right direction.nnThere is a large shared kitchen where you can cook your own food, that you bring. There's a grocery store on the island so you can get replenished while you're here.nnThe island is quite small but interesting to tour around. You can rent a golf cart in town to make your way around the island.

Was just out on the island to take a scenic stroll. Happened upon the Eighth Maine Regiment Memorial and stopped in. The inside of the building is a beautiful rustic feel, and has a very distinct feel. The man who told my friend and I about the building was a descendant of someone who fought with the Eighth. He made us feel very welcome and told us to just look around and enjoy our visit and the beautiful views from the wraparound deck. This was our best stop along our walk, and seems like would be a great place to spend a few nights.

A real hidden gem! A beautiful and authentic 19th century sleeping hall with fascinating history, maintained by the members of a charming community of descendents of veterans of the civil war. Be warned though, the conditions must not have changed a lot since it was built, it's pretty basic, with common bathrooms and a serve-yourself dining room. The views from our room was priceless, and the stay is relatively inexpensive (although the ferry to the island bumps the cost somewhat, of course). I
