Cumberland Public Library

Just moved to Cumberland, and this is my first time at the public library. Melissa and Katie (upstairs) were kind, patient, helpful and friendly! Melissa gave me the grand tour of upstairs, explaining all the sections. They did not rush me and my 1,000 questions. They both ran around getting me all 20 books on my list, and ordering the ones not in stock. Katie even complimented me on my hair!nnThe ladies downstairs at the circulation desk were pleasant and helpful also. I can’t wait to come back!

Before quarantine, I used to come here multiple times a week. I'm 15, and I had been going to the teen center with my friends for years. The fact that it was free, local, had cheap snacks, and had TVs automatically made it our favorite place to hang out together. It was also a great place to meet new people. In addition, there were many different activities the teen librarians would organize. Couldn't have asked for a better hangout spot. Can't wait till it reopens :)

The new playground at the library is much nicer than the old one. I wish they could have added more equipment but overall it's nice to have newer equipment.

The Cumberland Public library is located in the Monastery complex along with the senior center and literacy center. There is GENEROUS parking on the grounds, several restrooms with RAMPS and an ELEVATOR for those who need assistance. The library itself is a relatively new edition. The old Hayden Memorial Library houses the library book store, storage, public rooms and offices. This newer library is spacious. Downstairs offers magazines, newspapers, new fiction, DVDs and several display cases along with the circulation desk and the children's room. The children's room is self contained and features a stage, a lot of space, plenty of toys and computers for younger children.nThe elevator or stairs go up to the main collection, nonfiction, older fiction, Young Adult and reference materials. There has been a puzzle table in the past along with self serve Keurig coffee maker for $1 a pod.
