Great experience on a Friday morning. The blacksmith working was friendly and patient with our 2 young kids. I would recommend they setup Venmo for donations at the entrance, would have donated more but I was only carrying a few dollars with me. Got a cool coat hook made for us during our visit.
Definitely stop in and pay these folks a visit. Hear the stories. Make a donation or purchase one of the handcrafted items and help keep history alive.
Rich and the other staff members were very welcoming and helpful. They were happy to answer our questions and show us around. My husband had a wonderful experience learning some tricks of the trade from Rich. We will definitely come back if ever in Galena again :)
Very interesting visit. Not only is it an authentic blacksmith shop, the staff are knowledgeable, talented, and friendly. We stopped in for a short visit and were so captivated that we stayed for more than two hours. I highly recommend putting the Old Blacksmith Shop on your to-do list when visiting Galena.
Really liked hearing the back story from the employee here and watching them work. Wish the store had more items
