We went here Valentines weekend. I like the rustic, primitive life so the thought of an 1800's style log cabin was intriguing. I made reservations online easily. We were spending the weekend in Galena, so I wasn't sure exactly when I was going to show up when the reservations where made. The day of our arrival the owner was in communication with me so we knew what to do and where to go upon our arrival.nnThey have multiple cabins on a circle drive. In the middle is the pens for the Alpacas. Some of the cabins are single cabins, others are dual, meaning two separate cabins are conjoined sharing an entrance walkway. The Cabins are exactly how I imagined them. A primitive looking exterior and a rustic interior. We loved it. some of the cabins look like they're aren't currently in use.nnBeing a rural part of the country, they rely on well water. Anyone that has lived in a house on well water knows what this means. There can be discoloration and an odor to it. There's not really much that can be done about that.nnOverall we loved our stay. There were some things that were a little off putting. They really could use some maintenance in the cabins. In the one I stayed in two of the chairs were broken, one was taped up to fix it. The other chair had a broken stay on the back that left a sharp point, that could be an injury hazard. The bathtub needed resealing and and grout touched up. However, my biggest concern was the lock on the door. The door would lock, but the latch wasn't firm. There is a deadbolt, but the bolt wouldn't seat in the frame. It stopped on the face of the strike plate. Even if you thought bolt was set, the door would open. The cabin itself could use some sealing. There where gaps where you could see outside. The weekend we were there it got into negative temperatures, and the wind would cut through adding a chill to the cabin.nnIf you're looking for a ritzy, modern, fancy place to stay, look elsewhere. They have an old CRT TV, which we never turned on. We're in a cabin. You're in a cabin, I would have preferred if there was no TV, but I could see where someone else might want one. However, if they put in a large modern flat screen with a modern entertainment center would ruin the aesthetics.nnOverall if you want a rustic, pioneer feeling weekend. This is the place to go. If you want all the modern amenities... look elsewhere.
My friends and I came to stay for a night and we loved it! The owner is very sweet and the alpacas are so cute. Yes the cabins are rustic.. its a log cabin- what do you expect? Yes the water is well water as 15 million other properties are. The bed had plenty of blankets, the bathroom had plenty of towels, there were ample chairs for us all to sit in, and the mini fridge kept my wine cool. I enjoyed my stay and I hope you will too!
Rustic log cabins with amazing night sky views and friendly owners. Pictures of the buildings look a little iffy, but it was fine for us; the rooms are nice on the inside, beds are soft and clean. Alpacas wander the area around the cabin when they want to which is a fun detail. The farm is a bit cluttered with stuff which really should be cleaned up, but doesn't hurt anything.nnYou are out in the middle of the country, but there was reasonable cell phone coverage. Being so far from light pollution helped make the night sky very impressive. Drive into Galena is about 7 minutes.
We loved our stay at the cabins.nWe got exactly what we were looking for. A night in a cabin in the woods.nIf you aren't looking for that type of getaway then You may be disappointed by this beauty. The cabins are exactly as described and pictured online. All log and gorgeous for the being what they are. This is not a 5 star hotel and if that is what you were thinking you were booking then you will be let down but it's no reason to give it a bad review.nOf course there were bugs. You are out in nature ud83eudd26ud83cudffe♀ufe0fnDont you have bugs in your yard? I know I do and I live in the city.nThe stars were so gorgeous at night. We had a perfect night for star watching and it was warm enough we didn't need our fire to keep us warm.nRuth gave us all the amazing spots to go walking through the trails and she was so nice to talk to.nWe are already planning our next trip back.
This is a place is amazing! It is an authentic log cabin feel. Fire place worked perfectly our whole week trip. Good size TV, perfect for keeping the football fans satisfied. The owners Ruth is a superhero, she is a one of the sweetest and hardest working person I have ever. She provided us with 5/5 star service. When there was snow storming she was out there shoveling on her own. She brought us fresh fruit, coffee and yoghurt ever morning and brownies at night!nYes it is well water, It's perfectly safe to wash in and Ruth brings you drinking water. Also you can stop at the near by Walmart and stock up. This is exactly what we wanted to do. Be cozy in a cabin with your family. Highly recommend!nnThis is the perfect Glamping experience!nSo close to Downtown, sweetest women, and Alpacas!!!
