I was hesitant at first about applying here, The job isn’t bad at all . Every day is different ,some days are great And other a challenge, but the staff seems to pull together when needed. The Lieutenants do a great job of over seeing situations. If you wanna make $60,000 and above this is a great place to work. Money and overtime is always available .i recommend applying . They make the steps easy and you could be making lots of cash in no time. Good Luck.

Yes we have state benefits, Yes we can retire in 20 years , Yes we can earn multiple weeks of vacation. This is a every shift learning experience, Multiple situations can happen from day to day operations. Be aware of your interactions and surroundings and you should do well. Treat fair but set limits. This job can go as far as you wanna go. Wanna move up in ranks ? First you must apply. Simple as that. There are plenty of officers that will lead you in the right direction if your open minded.No I don’t always enjoy the job but it’s a love hate kinda thing. Long as you can walk and talk and conduct rounds ,follow simple direction ,and mind your own Business you should do well. This job offers opportunity.

I am a newer correctional officer here and this job has its up and downs. For the most part the other officers seem ok while working with them. Overtime isn’t a issue and you will be forced into the next shift often. The camera guys in central will make you wait at doors at times to move from location to location when you are new but hey , kills time and it could be worst. Guys in central control do a good job when you are forced and try to help get you in the best position possible and even work hard find coverage and fill open shifts. There is always something happening so expect the unexpected and follow directions and you will be fine. Overall the job is a good job once you have a decent understanding. if your thinking about applying simply stop smoking weed , fill out a app be ready for the academy and enjoy your new career.. I graduated not to long ago and it wasn’t bad at all. Be on time and do the small task that they ask and things will work out good. Light studying , and enjoy death by PowerPoint.They make the proses easy to follow . Once on line everything will fall into place . keep a open mind and take advise .

As a female I enjoy my time working as a Officer. They offer plenty of overtime . It’s really what you make of the career. I am planning on staying and retiring. We all work long hours at times but the pay is good at time and half. This is a great start if your interested in begging a law enforcement career or just remaining at Bristal County.
