My friend and I were walking in this town, while visiting a friends house here. We were stopped literally just for walking, searched, and id. The two of us walked 4 blocks before getting stopped by police.They never explained why they stopped , and detained us. No probable cause or explanation. After they could see we had nothing illegal on us, and we weren't up to anything; they then had no choice, but to let us go. They just stopped us because they felt they could. Surprise surprise we aren't white people.
Last night, someone committed over $4000 worth of fraud on my credit card. Today, I went to file a police report. This station was closest (1.1 miles away) to my home so I went here. Then, a young, dark haired male officer told me that I had to go to the another police station that was farther (2.7 miles) away because my address is Chicago so I had to go to a Chicago station even though it's farther away. I don't understand that. Aren't all police the police? If someone has committed a crime against me, shouldn't I be able to go to the closest law enforcement office? Why is it my responsibility to ensure it gets assigned to the right jurisdiction? Didn't feel good.
The new chief, as of November 2018, has only been here 6 months. Within those months I have seen nothing but positivity and improvement in our small town!!
God help us with new chief, unless you are a white man or woman, you are in trouble.
