Found this place while camping up in Demopolis and I can't recommend it enough to a fellow lover of history. Came on a Saturday with my husband and were given an amazing tour of the home and its treasure grove of original furnishings and antiques. Maverick was an encyclopedia of knowledge about the home and family. He was very welcoming, warm, and funny as well. You can tell he and Nancy have a lot of love for the place and its history. If you're up here anywhere near Demopolis and love history and beautiful architecture, put Gaineswood on your itinerary!

I had a wonderful tour of Gaineswood last week . The tour guide, Sue, knew so much. I could have listened to her for hours!!! If you haven’t seen this amazing house please put it on your to do list as soon as possible! You will not regret itud83dude0a

Beautiful old antebellum home that is now owned by the State of Alabama. Tour guides had excellent knowledge of the history and were excellent hosts.
