The Sam Houston Statue is well worth the visit. The visitor center is great and well stocked with plenty of souvenirs and information on not just the statue but Huntsville itself. After spending time in the visitor center you take a quiet short stroll to the statue itself. There are interesting things to see on your way to the statue, including a bust of Sam Houston's head and a cool little amphitheater. Once you make it to the statue itself, the statue is awe inspiring. I take my family there every year and we all still enjoy it.
Enjoyed stopping and checking out the history behind this monument. Sam Houston was instrumental in the founding of Texas. This monument honors that tradition and is truly Texas sized! Beware of the mosquitoes ud83eudd9f in spring to fall. Also check out the gift shop neat things inside :)
Excellent site to see in Huntsville!! The statue is impressive, the gift shop has great souvenirs and the visitor's center is incredible, especially the fabulous gentleman holding it down. We had a lovely visit!! Highly recommend!
Sam Houston Vistor center is well maintained, has restrooms, during a long drive it is definitely a good place to stop by for a break and also checkout the place. The amphitheater space is not great, needs maintenance.nThe statue is however on the roadside, but ample space to safely check it out, there are benches and tables for resting and having food.
Clean restrooms, places to sit. A cool gift shop with an adorable cat. Great place to stop by if you have a few extra minutes.
