I'm giving the park four stars because I'm terms of getting out into nature near the city and enjoying some sun, it excels. The sandy beach is fun and protected from fishing and motor boats....nnBut I went to fish and was disappointed. The fishing piers are two short old little boating piers. You will get soaked when some inconsiderate person decides they're going to make a large wake. Additionally, at their furthest point the water is only two or three feet deep. Not much happening fish wise.nnI'll go again for a hike. I would definitely avoid for fishing.
Park was beautiful, lots of boats, not the best place to fish cuz of all the boats and people don't seem to care about walking in front of fishing lines making lots of noise. On the bright side I did catch 2 small sunfish after most of the boats had left just before dark. Great park for a cookout tho.
Wonderful place, but for picnic. They charge you $10 so if you are not planning a quality amount of time to access water, beach and recreations then think. Downtown park Ann and Butler is much better.
Our family camped out here over Easter weekend. The park itself is beautiful but is currently under remodel. My biggest complaints is the guests that were present were all disrespectful when it came to the 10pm quiet time. Some one also shot off about 8 rounds at 4am and was blaring music. Nobody tends the camp grounds at night and with the crowd that is drawn to the place they definitely need someone present. I spoke to a few staff members and they seemed very nice and respectful. Suggest a night staff, and a zero tolerance policy for those who choose to break the noise rules after 10pm.
Very nice
