Best University I have attended. The English and Foreign Language department is a joke. They only offer English and Spanish degrees, most high schools offer more languages then that! They completely look down on students in that department. Switched over to science department and everything seems to fit well. Professors are always willing to help and meet for further clarification and overall very friendly yet slightly stern towards students.
The Masters of Science in Information Systems is poorly developed. Dr. Nagy teaches the mandatory starter class, and he was very unorganized. He grades items incorrectly, created unorganized and misspelled notes, and his quizzes were poorly written.nnAlso, he made our group project consult his friends yoga studio and yacht brokerage. Hardly a community use of State resources.nnI would strongly suggest reviewing other schools before choosing this one. There are many other State Universities that are affordable, employ better professors, and better organized. Even Tarleton's website is a hot mess.nnTrust me, run - I'm glad I did. At least the class I took transferred to another State University. Some of my classmates had to stay because they have invested too much time and only six hours will transfer to another Master's Degree.
Tarleton will always hold a special place in my heart. I was the kid that couldn’t afford to go to college and I wasn’t in the top ten percent of my class. I went to hair school before college. I worked my butt off and Tarleton always worked with and for me. I cheered 3 years at TSU (two years in undergrad and one year of my masters). These will always be the best days of my life! I received an amazing education along with memories that will last a lifetime! Bleed Purpleud83dudc9c
UPDATE: I was told that career services had been developed since 2014 so I began my masters here... they only changed the name of the website. They did get a new president which I have no earthly idea what he has done because this is the biggest waste of money. You still get the same answer in career services or any department there, “go check online.”nIt is sad for the great professors here that all the current student reviews mentioned. They deserve better and so do alumni.nnPast post (2014)nThe reason I gave it two stars is strictly because of the good professors there. As alumni I will even admit, this school has absolutely nothing else going for it.nThey have untrained teenage kids handling all your paperwork with HORRIFIC customer service. The most common phrase you hear when you interrupt their cellphone time by asking them a question is, it's online.nThe career services department is very underdeveloped, do not expect assistance finding a career after graduation. The most you will get is help developing a Tarleton version of linkedin. This school is a joke for serious adults and anyone wanting to be more than a teacher or nurse in a small town.
Paid for a 2 person dorm in Integrety. When we got there the room was not what we paid for. They put my son in a handicap room with no cabinets and no storage space. They totally misrepresented the room when they post pics of it on line. We tried to talk to the housing coordinator who told us we would have to wait for another room and that would be about a month. I was told to call the housing office and when I did I was told I had to speak to the housing coordinator in the dorm. Total runaround, unfriendly, not caring at all. I ask about getting our money back and she said that is not possible. They let students run everything and they have no clue how to handle issues like this. If I could give them a zero I would!
