Professors were nice enough and cared about your education, but counselors are an absolute NIGHTMARE. On separate occasions some of the problems I ran into werenn1) I was placed on academic probation for reasons unknown to me and forced to see a counselor before I could register classes for the following semester. On top of being seen 1 1/2 hours after my scheduled time, my counselor told me there must have been some kind of mistake because I had no reason to be placed on probation.nn2) Upon attempting to register for classes, I was told I needed a “password” to further continue. I had no idea what kind of password I would need to register and again, upon seeing my counselor was notified that they weren’t sure why I was asked for a password, but gave me a password that allowed me to continue the registration process, so obviously the counselor had some knowledge as to what the whole password business was for.nn3) At my first two semesters at this school, for some reason I was never given an assigned counselor and was just passed around to whoever was available at the time I needed counseling. When I actually did receive an assigned counselor, I was told that all of the information that was given to me regarding concerns about my grades, graduation plan, and my financial aid status was all wrong. So who knows who is really telling the truth?nn4) I have been stopped at least twice every semester I’ve taken classes here from registering, due to a hold being placed on my account saying I need to visit my counselor, with no apparent reason. Which is a huge setback considering classes go very quickly and usually the closest appointment is 1-2 weeks away. By the time I visit my counselor and the hold is taken off my account, the classes I have been eyeballing are gone and there’s no doubt in my mind that when I have to go back to my counselor AGAIN for some unknown and unnecessary reason and inform my counselor of this, I will just be told I should have “registered sooner” (lol).nnThis is just the worst encounters I’ve had with less than compassionate and able people, there are FAR far more I don’t believe I have the characters to type out. And don’t even think about trying to call online and get anything done. You will be passed around from department to department, each saying it is another departments problem. I have been waiting for a callback from the financial aid office since July 2020, regarding a check for $1500 in refunds I never received because the appropriate person never changed my address that I called over the phone and notified them of, because I “don’t have a FAFSA” which I do. When questioned about why I was issued a check to the wrong address in the first place of me not having a FAFSA was such a big deal, the older lady on the phone told me she “didn’t know”. But of course she’s 100% sure I can’t get my money back. What does not having a FAFSA have to do with me getting my refunded money anyways? I will be calling again soon to resolve this issue and to finally cut all my ties with this god forsaken college where you are tossed around, lied to, and treated like dirt overall. Go ANYWHERE but here if you can.

I attend college there it's fun and before the pandemic had blood drives and adult support. Good community and great places to jog, eat, and enjoy landscape views with pathways to trails and a park

I have been a student on this campus for about a year now. I am blown away by how dedicated the professors and staff on campus are. I have always gotten the help I needed when I reached out. All of my classes have been informative, and reasonably paced. Books are not at all expensive, and In some cases free! It is very clear that their goal is to make sure we succeed as students. I appreciate everything the staff has done for me this year.

Terrible admissions/registration staff. They need an entire new team or to retrain all employees in registrar office. Have been going around and around with numerous employees about admission since the beginning of JULY. It is now August 24th. Tell me how I have gotten 50 different answers/responses and none have been the same. No clear answers. I’m so disappointed that the purpose of their job is to help students get an education, yet they have not once actually tried to help me besides giving me different information every time I speak to a representative of the school. I really hope someone higher up sees this, because even when they transfer you to someone with more access to information, the line cuts off and I’m left having to call AGAIN just to speak to the same group of nincompoops. Terrible customer service skills and overall a terrible experience. If it’s money you’re concerned about, save the headache and go somewhere else. I guess you get what you pay for.

Quick & easy access to better parts of Live Oak pond. Plenty of secure parking, well lit paths in the evening.
