Orena Humphrey Public Library

I had been told this was a good library for genealogical research for the area. I drove in from out of town and spent 3 frustrating hours there. The library staff was so loud and rowdy that I had to cover my ears to concentrate. The Director Marilyn Frazier was the worst offender. She was on her cell phone constantly, talking very loudly. I now know all about her surgery, changes in doctor’s appointment, the battery dying on her jazzy, and her lost debit card. I don’t believe she did any library work the entire time I was there. At one point, she made a statement to the room in general that we would have to excuse them because it’s Friday. The most ironic part is that there is a “quiet please” sign on the door. All the patrons were quiet. The staff certainly WAS NOT! The shelves of family books were a mess, found out of order and even in wrong sections. I asked a staff member (or maybe a volunteer) a question and he said I don’t know, and never offered to try to get an answer to my question. If you must go to this library, my advice is to take earplugs and give yourself plenty of time to find things on your own.nn9/10/18nResponse to your reply:. My frustrations were with the loudness of the place and hence my inability to concentrate. You did not address the rowdy atmosphere of your library. I came for research and the atmosphere was inconducive. I hope you will take this as constructive criticism and make improvements. After all, it is a PUBLIC library for the benefit of the PUBLIC.

Freindly staff. Enjoyable activity. Fun for the family
