Neat place to visit and learn more about my ancestors
Was very interesting and will be back when it is warmer!
It's just a couple of miles off Hwy 69, which incidentally follows an old military trail between Fort Gibson and Texas. Well worth the detour.nnCivil War battle site that determined control of the military road and southern Oklahoma. The visitor's center is nice and has good exhibits. Be sure to watch the video. You can drive along the battlefield area but take a brochure with you. The informational posts along the route are not readable. The gentleman at the visitor's center was very helpful and outgoing taking time to visit and answer our questions. We will go back in the spring to futher explore the large battlefield.
Great museum with detailed information on the battle, who fought there and why.
It is being reorganized, so improvement are coming. The workers were friendly and helpful.
